Existentially Challenged is now out!

Existentially Challenged, the first sequel to Differently Morphous, is now available on Audible.com as an Audible Original! You should know the drill by now; it's an audiobook first, with Dark Horse publishing a print version some way down the line; probably late next year.

Existentially Challenged catches us up with the Department of Extradimensional Affairs, still struggling to set precedents in the new era that began when the British government declassified the existence of magic. One unexpected side effect has been that fake psychics and spirit healers are running amok, now that they have real magic to hide behind, and so a new law is passed to come down harshly on "magical appropriation" while Doctor Diablerie and Alison Arkin are reshuffled into a new "Office of Skepticism." Things soon go awry as an investigation into a faith healing cult goes to unexpected places, and meanwhile the internal tensions of the Department threaten to tear the returning cast apart along a brand new set of battle lines.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It's really setting the tone for what I want the DEDA Files to be (that's the official name now) - an ongoing mystery-of-the-week series with a big underlying intrigue that may bubble up to the surface at any time. Although having said that, the next book I want to write is the third and final novel of the Jacques McKeown trilogy.

Oh yes, and I am fully aware that the Jam and Mogworld audiobooks have disappeared from online stores, that was due to the original publisher going down, so I'm waiting to hear back from Audible about getting those back up. If you want to see movement on that quicker then the best thing to do would be to bug Audible about it directly and see if you can't bump me higher up the priority list.

Existentially Challenged is now available from Audible.com. You can click here to get it or on the image above if you couldn't wait this long.

  3. No sure why that posted. Wanted to say this is a worthy sequel to what I think is your best work so far - Differently Morphous. I love the cast of characters as they are flawed but relatable. Elizabeth stole the show in this story and the subtext of Dr. D’s promised “very hard push” is becoming more and more concrete. I think the intrigue in this story went deeper than in the previous venture, truly using the sequel as a jumping off point as you are so apt to say. I hope this series goes on for 4-5 more books. I also hope you satisfactorily conclude the shadow fall event, which I’m sure you will. Can’t wait to read the last of Jacques! I just can’t wait to see how Daniel makes things even more difficult for my favorite bumbling star pilot.

  7. Just finished the audiobook. I enjoyed the story a lot and I'm looking forward to the next one. Only thing I was disappointed about was the lack of sound effects for typing, or for the possessed peoples voices. Thought it was a really nice touch in the last book. Hope it makes a comeback for the third.

    Cheers

  12. The global coffee machine market is expected to be driven by consumers’ evolving tastes with respect to coffee. Increased consumption of coffee in the Asian countries is one of the key factors driving the market growth. Along with this, the introduction of new products, such as green and organic coffee, is expected to result in high consumption, thereby contributing to the market growth. The fast-growing market for ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, particularly coffee-infused beverages, is propelling the industry growth forward.

  14. Park View City Lahore is yet another successful real estate venture by the Vision Developers. PVC Lahore is a modern-day housing society with all basic and upgraded facilities. The developers of this society have been very successful in Park View City Islamabad as well. However, the most attractive feature of PVC Lahore is its location. It is located at the supreme location of Lahore city. Furthermore, it is also easily accessible via Thokar Niaz Baig Interchange. Lahore Park View was inaugurated back in 2012 and was named “Park View Villas.”

  15. I check most days and at least once a week to see if there are any updates to the next release date. I have read each of the last four novels at least three times each. I am deeply curious about what happens with Doctor Diablorie (spelling?) and hope he plays a larger part of the next book. While I very much enjoy the space adventure I have no real connection to those characters and I assume that any continuation of the Jaques McKeown story will follow in the same format- which is fine- but I am deeply excited to know what happens in DEDA. Please Hurry
