And what was this week's Zero Punctuation about? Why, I believe it was about Mafia 2.
Now, Mogworld is doing quite healthily in the world book market, apparently, but a lot of people have been complaining to me about Amazon. Apparently Amazon is still stuck in some kind of incredulous timewarp and doesn't believe that the book's actually been released, and some people are being asked to wait almost unreasonably long periods of time for their copies of Mogworld. The thing is, if you complain to me about it, you are basically complaining to the pig because your sausages were undercooked. I know my name is on the front of the cover in big fat serifed letters, but I've got nothing to do with distribution and sales or anything to do with Amazon. If you are dissatisfied with their service, then complain to them. Repeatedly. With sticks.
Amazonian butchers eh? Sounds about right. Nothing like a full english from a 6'3" warrior woman.
ReplyDeleteGot my copy here in the UK Tuesday 14 Sept... What I don't get is that there's no multiplier in a book so what does it matter if you get it the day it's released or a week later? Then again levelling up in Call of Mogword might be fun.
Bang on with your Mafia II review. Or should I say Bada-bing. Never played a game that was so short yet so tedious and pretencious. Also kind of tedious to make the motivation "GET MONEY, GET CARS, GET CLOTHES, GET WHORES" when in fact you become bankrupt 3 times in the game, including the shirt off your back. At least you can keep the 10 cars in the single garage?
Also the cops never chased me for going through a red light? Just speeding and say SIDESWIPING THEIR CAR! Which suggests to me that your sojourns through red lights were not without the occassional game of car-touch-rugby maybe.
The only point people can hang their stupid fanboyism on is the story, which was without conflict or drama (he was a dick and so was everyone else, and they all suffered... where's the problem?). But that's only because story is "subjective" and anyone's opinion is as valid as mine (god forbid).

ReplyDeleteReceived my copy of Mogworld the other day and I have to say it was and is a damn good read. The characters are vibrant and the story is engaging. The one issue I would have to have is that there is a fucking HUGE plot reveal on the back of the book that shouldn't be there. Seriously the suspense of what is happening to the characters at the begining of the book is totaly destroyed by it. Otherwise the thing is Bloody Brilliant! Keep on writing my man and keep on writing this well.
