Differently Morphous now available in silence

At long last, my latest novel, Differently Morphous, the super hilarious contemporary political supernatural mystery satire type thing, will be available in non-audiobook print and ebook style as of April 16th this year. Which I had better state is 2019, 'cos I probably won't update this blog for another decade or so. Check your preferred book retailers or click the fancy cover art below:

But if you'd prefer the audiobook version, and hadn't realised it's been available for ages and are sitting there scratching your little coconut head in confusion, here's a link to the Audible page as well.

Differently Morphous is the name of a book I wrote

Well, for all those naysayers who say I only update this site when I have a new book out, I say, how perceptive of you. It's called Differently Morphous and it's available RIGHT NOW on Audible.com.

https://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fantasy/Differently-Morphous-Audiobook/B07958SX8N?ref=a_a_search_c3_lProduct_1_1&pf_rd_p=e81b7c27-6880-467a-b5a7-13cef5d729fe&pf_rd_r=F3NTAFKZA2T9PG3K3VBD&

Yes indeed, as an Audible Original, the audiobook version of Differently Morphous is coming out first, with a print edition planned for further down the line (six months, probably). It's a good deal for me since there are people who routinely demand an audio version before the announcement of a new book has so much as passed me lips. Here's the blurb.

A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret.

After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

On the trail of the killer are the Ministry's top agents: a junior operative with a photographic memory (and not much else), a couple of overgrown schoolboys with godlike powers, and a demonstrably insane magician.

But as they struggle for results, their superiors at HQ must face the greatest threat the Ministry has ever known: the forces of political correctness...

Differently Morphous is the latest and greatest tale to emerge from the mind of writer (and narrator) Yahtzee Croshaw.

Some people who've read the blurb have asked me if this is some big stand against political correctness and if I'm definitively throwing in with the anti social justice brigade, but I might have to disappoint you, there. I was intending more to have equal amounts of fun with the extremes on both ends of that particular debate.

Anyway, here's the link again. My girlfriend says this is my best book yet and I didn't even make her say that.

Happy Valentines Here's A New Book

Will Save The Galaxy For Food is now out!

My latest book, published by Dark Horse Books, has been released as of February 14th 2017! It's an exciting sci-fi adventure about all the usual exciting sci-fi things: obsolescence, redundancy, hopelessness and despair. It's also a comedy! Ha ha. Here are all the ways you can get it:

The print version! Stick it next to print versions of my previous books and marvel at how much bigger it is and how much it's fucked up the layout of your shelf.

The ebook version! The flashy technologically advanced version for cool skateboarding modern youths and people who care a bit too much about their shelf layout.

The audiobook version! Since it's out on Valentine's Day, what better way to inspire some sizzling erotic bedroom adventures than by listening to my voice for ten hours straight?

Or just pop on down to your local real life book retailer and see if they've got it in. This ain't no small time publication, I mean, they don't let any old tat into the Amazon Best Books of the Month (Sci-fi and Fantasy). Preen preen.

Will Update This Website For Food

Blimey, it's been a while, hasn't it. But there's actual news to report! My third novel has been announced by Dark Horse Books! And it's called Will Save The Galaxy For Food.

It's a satirical sci-fi adventure set in a spacegoing future of humanity, where a golden age of the new frontier of space exploration is cut short when some thoughtless bastards invent cheap, easy teleportation with limitless range, making all the heroic star pilots redundant. An ex-hero struggling to make ends meet gets caught up in a potentially disastrous scheme and must discover his place in a universe that threatens to progress without him.

It'll be on sale on February 1st, 2017, and yes, there'll almost certainly be ebook and audiobook versions once again.

Puzzle Time

So I uploaded a Drown Out video to my Youtube channel, actually one we recorded ages ago that I've been sitting on for no particular reason, but then I thought, since it's New Year, why don't we do what my old middle school used to do, and bring in games?

So here's the deal: the video's unlisted and you need the link to view it. To determine the link, complete the puzzle below. Most of the clues are references to Let's Drown Out videos, or to games that Gabriel and I have done in our various LDOs, LPs and Ego Reviews. Don't spoil it! Let everyone else have the same amount of fun!

Chrimbo Dancing

You know what makes a great gift idea for people you don't know particularly well or can't bear to be around in person? Steam games! And with the Steam holiday sale now on, there's no better time to reward the introverted urban hermit in your life. Might I humbly suggest getting them The Consuming Shadow, which is 50% off until the end of the sale. That's right, just $4.99 USD. The lucky recipient will think of you every time they fight off the urge to shoot themselves in the throat.

Consuming Shadow Steam Release

The Consuming Shadow Insanity Edition will be released on Steam on Friday the 20th of November 2015, at 3:00am PST. (That's 11am GMT and 9pm where I am) is now live on Steam! HUMBLE BUYERS SEEKING STEAM KEYS: CHECK BOTTOM OF POST

www.theconsumingshadow.com
After the considerable support Consuming Shadow enjoyed on Humble Store and on Steam Greenlight, we've been taking the time to expand it for the Steam edition, which is now called the Insanity Edition. And it's going to be out on Steam by the end of the week.
As well as the existing dungeon-exploring monster-shooting world-saving procedural-puzzle-solving gameplay, you can expect:

 - 2 all-new monsters and 6 new variants of existing ones

- 12 Challenge Modes to unlock; play the standard game with special modifiers to add new difficulty, ranging from the mild to plonker-tuggingly hard

- Including the Daily Challenge, which generates three gameplay modifiers using a random seed based on the date, so that players attempting it on the same day with the same character can play an identical layout

- The Descent, infinite dungeon mode; get through as many levels of an ever-expanding, increasingly dangerous dungeon as you can without dying

- Nearly 100 Steam achievements and 5 Steam trading cards to unlock

While I've got you I might as well state now that save files and unlocks from the Humble edition sadly won't carry over to the Insanity Edition, since the game has changed a bit and the save system has been updated, but at least there's good reason to restart now there's all these achievements to get.

Humble Store buyers read this! As promised, those of you who bought the Humble Store version will receive a Steam Key in time for the release. You should automatically receive it, and will be able to get it from the same download page that was emailed to you when you bought it the first time. If you don't have it by Friday, get onto Humble Store about it; don't get onto me because I won't know.
