Some necessary background: FTL: Faster Than Light is an indie game on Steam in which you have to manage a spaceship's crew and power functions as it makes its way to home base to warn of a coming rebel fleet. It's very absorbing and I've been playing it a lot lately. Recently I wrote a poem about it. Here it is.
Brilliant! Quite a dab hand at poetry :-)
ReplyDeleteFinishing up Mogworld Audio book, Can I look forward to Jam audio book?
That was really impressive. :) Thank you for writing your poem and sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI don't play FTL by appreciate the appeal it has. It is good to know that you continue to explore your writing in varying ways and I look forward to the day you finally go mad and write one epicly long bit of verse that Darkhorse sells as a novel.
ReplyDeleteAlso: "Jam" is pretty good, thanks for writing it.
Nice rhymin' Bro!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
ReplyDeleteDamn, now I have to go out and by that game. Well done, Yahtzee
ReplyDeleteIf a pirate actually wrote a poem to me in surrender, i might actually consider it. But if the glaive beam was on the line? fuck that
ReplyDeleteI have yet to play FTL but mostly everything I hear about it confirms that it was the game I invented and wrote a brief design document for when I was 12. It's irritating when that happens.
ReplyDeletethey need to put 40k ships in that
ReplyDeletei always wanted to fly a giant cathedral with thousands of guns on the side in space
nice
ReplyDeleteIf it were on iTunes, I'd buy it... If I had an iPod...
ReplyDelete...well Anthony... if games workshop didn't tell anyone to go piss off when ever much of the fan work is made... am fairly sure a 16bit battlefleet Gothic could have been made... lord knows the company's they rent the brand out to have experience building the ships of the imperiam...
ReplyDeleteI saw this poem vid and thought:
ReplyDelete'Shit, if Yahtzee made a poem about it it MUST be decent.'
Then I played the game for 50 hours, and came to watch it again...
Bravo chap. Good show.
The cadence is kind of like Poe.
ReplyDeleteYahtzee. You are a genius.

Eno, I think the cadence is actually more Seuss (good old amphibrachic tetrameter), but the device of coming to rest again and again on the same rhyme will put anyone in mind of The Raven (or maybe Green Eggs and Ham...)
