Will Get Starstruck For Consoles

Time for me to once again remember I have a personal blog so I can post announcements for a couple of things. Both of them this time in the form of videos. First of all, Will Leave The Galaxy For Good's print and ebook editions are now finally both available to buy from Amazon. I did a little Q&A video to mark the occasion.

Secondly, my indie game Starstruck Vagabond is now available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S! I got another little trailer made to announce it. Hoping for a Switch port at some point but nothing confirmed yet.

Will Leave This Trilogy Where It Is

I'm very bloody excited to announce the release of my latest novel, the third and final book in the Jacques McKeown trilogy, Will Leave The Galaxy For Good!

Will Leave sees the hero of Will Save The Galaxy For Food and Will Destroy The Galaxy For Cash, ex-star pilot turned conman Dashford Pierce, still living in Ritsuko City and pretending to be Jacques McKeown, feeling the pressure from fans and publishers to write new books and with no idea how he's supposed to do that. Shortly, yet another series of disasters borne from his own bad decisions ensues, culminating in one last odyssey across space to find, confront, and beat the snot out of the source of all of his woes - the real Jacques McKeown himself.

This is absolutely the concluding book in the series. As for whether it's the last you'll see of Dashford Pierce, who the trac knows. As per my usual deal with Audible it's only available in audiobook form for now, and there's no set date on the print and ebook version just yet, but it'll have to be at least six months from now.

In the meantime, I'm streaming a live reading and Q&A on the Second Wind youtube channel tomorrow, meaning April 5th 2024, which will almost certainly be in the past by the time most of you read this, so here's a link to where the video's going to be:

The Wind of Change

Right, well, since I feel there's been some renewed interest in me and my work lately - that's what happens when you dramatically quit your video series of 16 years to go independent with your recently fired editor - I thought it was well past time I updated this site. So, in no particular order:

  • Existentially Challenged is now available in every imaginable format! So, audible, print and ebook. Links in the top right.
  • The third book in the Jacques McKeown trilogy, Will Leave The Galaxy For Good, is very much in the works and the Audible release will be some time next year.
  • My newest game in development, Starstruck Vagabond, has a Steam page! No concrete release date yet, but keep wishlisting it so the pressure keeps getting to me.
Oh and not much else, just the fact that I quit Zero Punctuation and the Escapist and have started a new venture alongside Nick Calandra, the Escapist's former editor in chief, and the Escapist's entire video team. It's called Second Wind, it's a 100% independently owned and funded gaming and pop culture channel, and I'm doing a weekly game review series called Fully Ramblomatic that some of you old timers will find weirdly familiar.

Subscribe to the Second Wind Patreon! It's literally what keeps it (and me) going.

Existentially Challenged is now out!

Existentially Challenged, the first sequel to Differently Morphous, is now available on Audible.com as an Audible Original! You should know the drill by now; it's an audiobook first, with Dark Horse publishing a print version some way down the line; probably late next year.

Existentially Challenged catches us up with the Department of Extradimensional Affairs, still struggling to set precedents in the new era that began when the British government declassified the existence of magic. One unexpected side effect has been that fake psychics and spirit healers are running amok, now that they have real magic to hide behind, and so a new law is passed to come down harshly on "magical appropriation" while Doctor Diablerie and Alison Arkin are reshuffled into a new "Office of Skepticism." Things soon go awry as an investigation into a faith healing cult goes to unexpected places, and meanwhile the internal tensions of the Department threaten to tear the returning cast apart along a brand new set of battle lines.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. It's really setting the tone for what I want the DEDA Files to be (that's the official name now) - an ongoing mystery-of-the-week series with a big underlying intrigue that may bubble up to the surface at any time. Although having said that, the next book I want to write is the third and final novel of the Jacques McKeown trilogy.

Oh yes, and I am fully aware that the Jam and Mogworld audiobooks have disappeared from online stores, that was due to the original publisher going down, so I'm waiting to hear back from Audible about getting those back up. If you want to see movement on that quicker then the best thing to do would be to bug Audible about it directly and see if you can't bump me higher up the priority list.

Existentially Challenged is now available from Audible.com. You can click here to get it or on the image above if you couldn't wait this long.

Will Update This Blog For Likes

Whoops, it's way past time I updated the site with my new book.

Will Destroy The Galaxy For Cash is coming out on Audible.com on September 26th 2019, but it's available to preorder whenevs. As with Differently Morphous, it's an Audible Original, so there's only an audiobook version now and there'll be a print and ebook version later. At some point. Don't want to commit to a date right now but it has to be six months at the very least.

WDtGfC is a first for me, because it's a direct sequel to my third book, Will Save The Galaxy For Food. All my books up til now have been one-off stories (although I'm fixing to write future books in the Differently Morphous continuity as well). For a long time I was leary about sequels and serials, because I remember going to sci-fi and fantasy bookshops as a kid and only finding Books 2 and 4 of the Breakwind Chronicles or whatever, but eventually I accepted that this is much less of an issue in this age of binging on digital media. Besides, saving myself the trouble of coming up with new characters was nice.

So, click the cover art above and buy Will Destroy The Galaxy For Cash for another instalment in the life of the out-of-work space hero currently named Dashford Pierce, as a new set of complications turn his life upside down, although his life was already turned upside down when quantum tunneling was invented, so if anything this could put his life the right way up.

By the way, are you following Yahtzee's Dev Diary on the Escapist? For reasons too complicated to go into here, I've pledged to exercise my indie game dev muscles by developing 12 games in 12 months. At time of writing game 5 of 12 is soon to be released for free download and I'm still basically sane for now, but we've seven months to go and anything could happen. You might as well check it out 'cos it's the main reason I haven't started on any new books lately.

Differently Morphous now available in silence

At long last, my latest novel, Differently Morphous, the super hilarious contemporary political supernatural mystery satire type thing, will be available in non-audiobook print and ebook style as of April 16th this year. Which I had better state is 2019, 'cos I probably won't update this blog for another decade or so. Check your preferred book retailers or click the fancy cover art below:

But if you'd prefer the audiobook version, and hadn't realised it's been available for ages and are sitting there scratching your little coconut head in confusion, here's a link to the Audible page as well.
